"WE Math teachers generally know a lot about our subject, and we perhaps have a tendency to want to give all of this to our students. Thus, classroom lecture is born." Kay Toliver, Hands On Math

The New Jersey Department of Education has come up with proposals to revise the current core curriculum standards for Math. Under the proposed revision, the emphasis is on making the students communicate in math. To be able to communicate higher expectations must be set. To be able to set higher expectations learning must be active. To be active means to be able to participate. To be able to participate means to be able to discover concepts through investigations.

This portion of the Long Branch High School Professional Development wiki is intended to provide teachers with resources to make the learning of math fun, meaningful and rewarding, both for teachers and students.
